When did you begin creating art?

I've loved painting and drawing for as long as I can remember, but my earliest memories of being intentional about creating art go back to middle school.

What is your favorite medium?

I tend to gravitate toward acrylics because they’re so accessible, and very forgiving!

Where do you find inspiration?

I think I find inspiration in a lot of different places - everyday life, nature, other artists, sometimes dreams.

What motivates you to create?

For me, art has always been an emotional outlet, and the motivation to create comes in waves.

How do you think art impacts society?

Art is often controversial and can shine light on harsh realities that society would rather gloss over, and that's a really important role it plays in history. On the other hand, though, I find that art can be a reminder to slow down and appreciate the beauty that's in front of us every day. I love that a piece can mean something different to everyone and solicit different emotions.

What is your inspiration behind this piece?

Frida Kahlo was such a force. Her art is so raw, and she captured themes that are still relevant almost 100 years later. I wanted to honor her in a modern setting and in my own style.

Why did you choose to donate to ED Warriors?

Struggling with an eating disorder can feel so isolating, and most people struggle in silence. I see being able to be someone's advocate and contribute to their recovery in some way as an incredible opportunity.
